Let’s Start with the Basics – Savings Accounts, Splitting Expenses, Credit Cards
Let’s talk budgeting! Now, you have probably been told that trips to Orlando, Florida can be very expensive – and they can be! But they don’t have to be! I’ve spent years perfecting my strategy to save money, maximize my rewards, and not feel guilty for spending extra money on the things I love.
I learned a lot about finance and budgeting through the creator, HerFirst100K, so I would like to shout her out in this section (I’m Tori’s number one fan!).
The main focus of this section will be about the financial fundamental foundation: savings, credit cards, and rewards!
Save ahead of time:
I recommend first creating a high-yield savings account (HYSA) that allows you to save money and gain high interest back on it. There are many HYSA offerings out there like SoFi, Capital One, etc. I recommend finding a reputable bank and signing up for it. You can even use it just for your Orlando trips! 🙂
Consider automating your transfers too - a little goes a long way. If you save now, you'll be able to put away funds for your time in Orlando.
Utilize credit cards:
If used correctly, credit cards can be your best friend. I like to use an everyday credit card that allows cashback, because I can then reinvest those funds into my goal vault or general savings account.
Many credit cards offer an in-app travel cashback program. You can usually get anywhere from 5% to 10% cashback on trips if you book with your credit card provider. In certain situations, I use either my Chase or CapitalOne.
Here are my referral links for each card! Utilize my Facebook group to let me know how they are working for you!

Split the expenses:
If you’re traveling with friends, consider splitting expenses. In this case, one person could put the tickets on their card, another books the hotel, and another books flights. This allows you all to not feel the burden of expenses on your card and you can always pay each other back.
My biggest recommendation for traveling with friends or large groups is to utilize the app SplitWise – truly, this is a game changer. You can create a group, add your expenses, and it keeps track of what you owe and who owes you at the end of the trip! Once the trip has concluded, you can “settle up” on Venmo with people you need to pay back.
